Shower & Tub Re-caulking in Innisfil, ON
We strip the old caulk out of the tub and shower joints, kill the mould under it, let it dry, and re-seal with a bathroom silicone. For anyone whose shower corner has gone black or whose tub seam has pulled away from the tile. You get a joint that sheds water for years, and a straight answer if the problem is behind the tile rather than on it.
What the Job Involves
All of the old caulk comes out, down to the tile and the tub; a new bead over the old one is why it fails again in six months. We treat the joint with a mould killer, dry it with a fan, tape both edges and run a mildew-resistant silicone, tooled smooth. The tub is filled before we caulk the tub-to-tile joint so the seam is sealed in the position it sits in when someone is standing in it. Tub, shower corners, the shower door base, the faucet escutcheons and the vanity top are all done in the same visit.
When the Problem Is Behind the Tile
Mould that comes back weeks after a re-caulk, grout that crumbles, a tile that sounds hollow, or a stain on the ceiling below mean water is getting behind the wall, and no bead of silicone fixes that. We say so when we see it. The repair is a section of tile out, cement board and a membrane in, and the tile back on, which is a tile repair. A surround that has failed is a bathroom renovation.
What Affects the Price
The number of joints, how many layers of old caulk have to come out, and whether the tub and shower are both being done. A standard tub and shower is a short visit plus drying time. It is quoted from a photo, and included in a maintenance visit when the joints need it.
